4X XCOM

4X games is a sub-genre of strategy video games. In 4X games, players are given control over an empire and they have to do 4 things to achieve victory: eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. XCOM is a reboot of the original X-Com, created by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. It’s a sci-fi video game franchise featuring an elite international organization tasked with countering alien invasion of Earth. The series began in 1994 with the strategy video game UFO: Enemy Unknown. The original franchise (developed by MicroProse) included six published games and two novelizations. The series achieved a sizable cult following and has influenced many other video games; including the creation of a number of clones, spiritual successors, and unofficial remakes. The XCOM series began in 2012 with the strategy video game XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It was a critical and commercial success, with immediately spawn an expansion, called Enemy Within, as well as a prequel, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
