TBS (Turn-Base Strategy) game is a subgenre of strategy video games where players take their turns when playing. This is completely different from real-time strategy (RTS) where all players play the same game simultaneously. Sid Meier’s Civilization (also known as Civ) is a series consisting of several turn-based strategy video games. Sid Meier developed the first game in the series in 1991 (and oversaw most of the sequels) Because of that, his name is included in the formal title of most Civ games. There have since been six main installments in the series, as well as a number of expansion packs, spin-off games, and even board games. The series is considered a prime example of the “4X” genre, in which players can achieve victory through four main routes. These routes are eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate, respectively.
