With the advancement of the internet, video games started to evolve as well. One of the major changes was an introduction to the Multiplayer mode. In Multiplayer, more than one person can play in the same game environment at the same time. Before the internet era, video games were mostly Single Player activities, putting the player against preset challenges and AI-controlled opponents (which lacked the flexibility and unpredictability of human mind). Multiplayer games allow players to interact with each other in partnership, rivalry or competition, giving them a level of social communication absent in Single Player titles. In Multiplayer games, players may compete against two (or more) human contestants, work cooperatively with a human partner to achieve a common goal, and even supervise other players' activity. Multiplayer games typically require players to share the resources of a single game system or use networking technology to play together over a greater distance. A video game franchise commonly associated with multiplayer is Counter-Strike. Massively Multiplayer Online games (also called MMOs) are a variation of multiplayer games in which a very large number of players can interact with one another within a virtual world. The best example of an MMO game is World of Warcraft.
Grand Theft Auto is such a legendary franchise. With over 250 million units sold, the GTA brand is well-known in the gaming world. GTA games are typically set in fictional cities (e.g. Liberty City, Vice City, or San Andreas), which are stand-ins for the real-world cities. Gameplay focuses on an open world where the player can choose his/her objectives and complete various missions in order to progress an overall story. There are many engaging side activities, all consisting of driving, action-adventure, TPS, stealth, racing, and even roleplay elements. Each part of the GTA series focuses on a different protagonist who attempts to rise through the ranks of the city’s criminal underworld. It should be noted that the Grand Theft Auto series has been voiced by many film and music veterans, including Dennis Hopper, Samuel L.
