Multiplayer games allow players to interact with each other in partnership, rivalry or competition, giving them a level of social communication absent in Single Player titles. In Multiplayer games, players may compete against two (or more) human contestants, work cooperatively with a human partner to achieve a common goal, and even supervise other players' activity. Multiplayer games typically require players to share the resources of a single game system or use networking technology to play together over a greater distance. Massively Multiplayer Online games (also called MMOs) are a variation of multiplayer games in which a very large number of players can interact with one another within a virtual world.
