XCOM is a reboot of the original X-Com, created by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. It’s a sci-fi video game franchise featuring an elite international organization tasked with countering alien invasion of Earth. The series began in 1994 with the strategy video game UFO: Enemy Unknown. The original franchise (developed by MicroProse) included six published games and two novelizations. The series achieved a sizable cult following and has influenced many other video games; including the creation of a number of clones, spiritual successors, and unofficial remakes. The XCOM series began in 2012 with the strategy video game XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It was a critical and commercial success, with immediately spawn an expansion, called Enemy Within, as well as a prequel, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. BioShock is a franchise consisting of three FPS video games, developed and published by 2K Games. The first installment in the series was released in August 2007 for multiple platforms. It was a huge hit and quickly spun into the other media. All games in the series (BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite) are set in various dystopian cities/communities and the games’ protagonist has to fight against all odds to survive. BioShock includes elements of aforementioned FPS, survival horrors, and even role-playing games, giving the player different approaches in engaging enemies and various obstacles. The BioShock games were often praised for their disturbing, morality-based storylines, immersive environments, and unique settings, and are all considered to be some of the greatest video games of all time.
