Steam is a digital distribution platform created by Valve Corporation. It offers digital rights management (DRM), multiplayer gaming, social networking services, and even video stream function. Steam provides its users with installation and automatic updates of games on multiple computers, as well as various community features. Said features include: friends lists, groups, cloud saving, and in-game voice and chat. Though initially developed for use on Microsoft Windows, versions for OS X and Linux were later released. Mobile apps (with the main software) were released for iOS, Android, and even Windows Phone. Steam is currently the largest digital distribution platform for PC gamers with almost 75% of the market space. It has over 130 million registered accounts (with over 13 million concurrent users). The success of the Steam platform has led to the development of Steam Machine micro-console, as well as SteamOS. Steam’s user-friendly design and frequent sales, only increase its popularity among PC gamersTBS (Turn-Base Strategy) game is a subgenre of strategy video games where players take their turns when playing. This is completely different from real-time strategy (RTS) where all players play the same game simultaneously. Turn based strategy is ideal for gamers with low APM (Action-Per-Minute rate) and more casual approach towards gaming. The first TBS video games were actually converted from historic board games. After their huge success, video game companies created their own franchises based on original concepts. That’s how the best TBS games of all time were born. Titles like Sid Meier's Civilization, Panzer General, and of course the entire Heroes of Might and Magic series are well known among the players from all over the world. Fun fact: The oldest turn-base strategy game is actually the game of chess. Games Republic is a place where every PC gamer will find the best TBS games. The term “Single-player video game” usually refers to a game that can only be played by one person. The “Single-player mode” usually refers to a particular game mode that is designed for one player, though the game also contains other modes (that can be played by several players simultaneously). The majority of modern video games are designed so that they can be played in Single-player. Although many of these games have modes that allow two or more players to have fun, very few require more than one player for the game to be played. A good example is The Unreal Tournament series. Single-player games rely heavily on compelling stories and immersive settings. The point of this is drawing players into the experience and creating a sense of investment. Humans are unpredictable and therefore players cannot be relied upon to carry a narrative in a particular direction. Because of this fact, most multiplayer games try not to focus on a linear narrative. By contrast, many Single-player games are built around a compelling story and interactions with the in-game world.Hide
